The article presents a mapping of the use of the term and the concept of political literacy in Brazil, based on a bibliographic survey of academic and scientific texts published between 2008 and 2024. The aim is to see how the concept is expanding in the country, which authors are references on the subject, in which institutional spaces political literacy is applied and to which audiences it is addressed. The results show that the concept has expanded from its initial use in legislative schools to primary schools, universities and even social networks and digital spaces. In addition, they reveal that there are a variety of definitions and approaches to political literacy, some aligned with the initial concept and others proposing reformulations. The conclusion is that political literacy is already part of the discussion on political education in Brazil, being adopted in different educational and institutional contexts, with several authors dedicated to the subject and a diverse target audience, but with a greater focus on young people.
