The Electronic Journal E-Legis (ISSN: 2175-0688) is a scientific journal published quarterly, since 2008, under the Graduate Program of the Chamber of Deputies (PPG/CD). The journal disseminates research results focused on relevant topics in the field of legislative studies and has established itself as a national reference in the area. The E-Legis has editions in Portuguese, English, and Spanish and receives manuscripts throughout the year in a continuous flow system.
Purpose
Disseminate original manuscripts related to the Legislative Branch, Legislation, and Public Policies.
Target audience
Researchers in legislative studies
Objective
Disseminate relevant knowledge regarding the Brazilian Legislative Branch at its various levels: municipal, state, and federal, linked to the three lines of research of the PPG/CD.
Lines of research
1) Public Management in the Legislative Branch
Proposes to study the public bureaucracy as a relevant element in constructing democracy. In this sense, on the one hand, there are studies related to the management of the bureaucracy of the Legislative Branch in its various dimensions (strategy, people, processes, technologies, finance, security, physical space, infrastructure, and others). On the other hand, there are also studies related to the role of the Legislative Branch in monitoring, supervising, and evaluating the bureaucracy of the Executive in the conduct of public policies.
2) Political Processes of the Legislative Branch
It seeks to understand the Legislative Branch within the classical tripartition of powers and the political exercise that gives it existence. Thus, the line addresses three primary functions traditionally related to the Legislative: the legislating function, present in the legislative process, in general, and in the various phases of the elaboration and appreciation of laws, in particular; the function of control and supervision of the government concerning the functioning of the State; and the function of representing society, which is part of the Legislative.
3) Institutional Policy of the Legislative Branch
Its field of study is the knowledge and practices that the legislative houses elaborate and disseminate regarding the Legislative. Strategies for expanding and (or) improving political participation and representation deserve to be highlighted, as well as the pedagogical actions performed by the Parliament, in its informative and communicative aspects.
